Sustainable Cities

The Garden Project

A green company to encourage bio‐diverse organic forest gardens that sustain themselves once they are planted.

Giant Goals (May as well think big; thinking is still free)

• To teach people to grow much of their own food in California and other temperate areas, where it can be done year round organically and pesticide free.

• To encourage sharing of yards, lots and land by those who own them but do not have time to grow gardens themselves with those who want to grow gardens to share food in a neighborly fashion.

• To encourage self‐sufficiency and cut down on artificially preserved food that is not fresh and therefore unhealthy and are a huge waste of fuel, money and other resources that could be used elsewhere.

• To encourage a new economy based on green eco-sensible activities that are low impact to the environment and are sustainable for future generations rather than a money and profit based economy that wastes and destroys the planet and all the species on it.

• To get most pieces of cultivated land that now have grass, and ornamental plants on them converted to sustainable food crops grown in an eco sensible and beautiful manner so that we can all eat all the healthy, fresh, organic, plant based foods we want for free. This includes private homes, schools, corporations, libraries and other public buildings.

• To encourage improved health and sanity and kindness through a predominantly plant based diet.

• To end all factory farming of animal products within 10 years if not sooner.

Smaller more specific goals

• To encourage saving heirloom seeds and sharing them with a series of seed banks around the world existing or created as we go along.

• Online and local study groups, and book groups.

• Encourage passing legislation to making sharing heirloom seeds legal; and protecting us from genetically engineered food products.

• To teach kids about growing their own food with indoor and outdoor gardens.

• To bring more gardens to middle schools, high schools and college campuses by having volunteers who want to learn to garden help grow them.

• To teach about vegan nutrition, the importance of rock dust in remineralizing soil and how natural minerals affect our health instead of taking chemicalized supplements.

• To teach how calcium deficiencies, hormone problems, cancer and other ill health issues are caused or aggravated by lack of fresh raw plant‐based, mineral‐rich foods and by eating too many fats, animal products and refined products.

• How many food cravings can be cured and deficiencies solved through the simple addition of composting and rock dust and locally grown foods.

Small Actions

Things we can do now in the SF Bay Area. Volunteering at local communal gardens and projects in the bay area; City Slickers, People's Grocery, Planting justice, Regenerative design iInstitute, Merrit College permaculture program, Guerrilla Gardeners, Master composter training, Alameda eco village, local harvest, Common Vision, See network page for more ideas. There are endless ways to get started locally no matter where you live.

Finding yard to convert to sustainable gardens based on fruit trees and a predominance of plants that do not need yearly replanting.
